Germany authors Simon and Anton Ochsenkühn married for many years had become tired of the bland everyday routine. Their lives had become devoid of any meaning, their relationship and marriage had reached a crisis point, and they were ready to escape into another life, each with a new partner.
Instead, they decide to make a pilgrimage from to Rome along the route taken by St. Francis of Assisi, learn, and discover something from their adventure.
With the backpack, and the necessary equipment, and with the burden of marital problems, they set out and walked to Rome for several weeks, in the height of summer. They were far away from busy everyday life, the mobile phones and the internet. Ahead was the beautiful countryside of Umbria and Lazio. Along with good food, quiet conversation and plenty of time for one's thoughts, they found the opportunity to reflect on their lives and relationship.
In their newly released book “Auf dem Franziskusweg: Eine Pilgerreise von Assisi nach Rom” their document their journey of self-discovery. It is personal and entertaining travel memoir written from two perspectives, which connects at the end of something important: a new beginning. The authors take the reader on this exciting journey, and invite you to join them on their adventure. The book published in Germany, is only available in German at this moment but I am sure it will be translated into English sometime soon.
